As we all settle into routines this fall you may be wishing you signed your kid up for dance. Whether they need a time filler or an indoor activity now that the weather is getting cooler- dance is a great option. Not only will your child be spending their time constructively, but they'll be expending a ton of that pent up cold weather energy!
You may think it's too late now since classes have already started, BUT I have great news. The Dance Effect PAC knows families need flexibility, which is why the Discovery Program runs in 6 week sessions. These sessions have fun themes, but also offer a short term commitment for families looking to try out dance without a huge commitment. Discovery classes come in a variety of styles- so they're perfect for beginners not sure what type of dance interests them. Toddler parents love the Discovery program because it's a way to "get your feet wet" to see how their kiddo reacts to a class. Each six week session has a specific theme to delight the imagination of dancers. Students learn new dance techniques and choreography throughout the session much like a traditional dance class. However, each six week session culminates with a short in-class performance for parents to watch!
Admission is always rolling, but now is the perfect time to sign up for session #2 of the year. Session two will begin the week of October 24th. If you're considering enrolling in a session, this is the one to choose for one very special reason- the Holiday Showcase! Discovery students age 3 and up will have the opportunity to participate in the Holiday Showcase a Christmas themed performance, complete with costumes and stage lights. Better yet? There is no additional cost to participate in the showcase- it's completely free for all session #2 enrollees!
So what types of classes are in the Discovery Program? Here's a list:
Ages 2-4
- Itty Bitty Ballerinas (2-3 year olds). 30 minutes of twirling magic with joy and props
- Mini Monkeys (2-3 year olds) 30 minute creative movement and tumbling class. Students work on motor skills and independence!
- Princess Ballerinas 3 (3 year olds) 45 minute ballet and tap with fun themes and props
- Princess Ballerinas 4 (4year olds) 60 minute ballet and tap with fun themes and props
- Funky Monkeys (3-4 year olds) 45 minute Hip hop and tumbling class
Ages 5-8
- Dance Adventures (5-8 year olds) 60 minute jazz and tap class with ballet basics to the tune of fun, upbeat music.
- Fairytale Dance (5-8 year olds) 60 minutes with themes centered around your favorite princesses. An introduction to musical theatre and lyrical dance.
- Acro Dance Adventures (5-8 year olds) 60 minute jazz class with beginner acrodance skills.
Age 10+
- Dance 101 (10-16 years old) 30 minute class with ballet and then your choice of jazz or tap. Perfect for new dancers!
