March 24, 2022

The season we've been waiting for is just around the corner and Tinkergarten is ready for action!  Join us this soring as we turn the outdoors into a classroom.  This spring's theme is a Creativity so we'll be exploring the great outdoors and getting wildly creative together each week.   We'll be playing in mud, learning about animal friends, splashing, and having a ton of fun. Each week at Tinkergarten we come together to sing, move and learn about a new creature each week—and we use all of our senses to connect to nature in our outdoor classroom- the best classroom of all! The Spring program helps kids strengthen their natural creativity. We’ll activate our imaginations and practice the fundamental creative processes and support kids in exploring ALL of the possibilities in different situations.

After the fun of weekly class is over Tinkergarten helps parent's support creative play at home with three amazing weekly activities, a read aloud book, and a "just between us grownups" tip.  If you've been looking to get your family outside more or ways to encourage meaningful play- Tinkergarten is for you!

Quick facts:

  • Classes begin Thursday, April 7th
  • 9 week season
  • Mixed-age class 18 months-5 years
  • Outdoors at Waterworks Park in Collegeville
  • Parent/child class- kids love learning when their favorite grown up is playing right along side!
  • Child-led.  We believe kids learn best when learning is joyful.  Tinkergarten will provide a prompt, but kids drive the play.
  • Process over product.  Each child goes at their own pace.  There's no need to worry about falling behind, everyone will have a different outcome to the week's prompt- exactly as it should be!
  • STEM Learning.  Every lesson combines early learning science with timeless wisdom about nature and childhood.
  • This summer's theme is Creativity!  A vital part of early development kids will learn hands on.  We'll focus on divergent thinking (breaking apart, blending, mixing together), nature art, and celebrating the sounds and movement of the season!

Tinkergarten's goal is to get families outside playing.  We know that kids learn best outside and when learning is joyful, so why not combine the two? Tinkergarten guides families through purposeful outdoor play.  In addition to the weekly class, you'll receive 3 prompts to explore at home, have access to a read aloud book which enhance the lessons, and get a helpful "just between us adults" tips every week.  Each week at Tinkergarten your child will get a new irresistible prompt to discover and explore, and be prepared, they'll be wanting to recreate them at home too! Seasons are themed around one of eight important themes for childhood development. Fostering creativity, instilling persistence, practicing communication, and nurturing empathy are just some of the ways we aim to lay the foundation for kids to be not only ready for school, but just about anything!

Come learn and play outside this fall as we unlock the magic of the great outdoors.  You'll probably get messy, but that's all part of the process!
